Ondřej „DeViL“ Balušek and Matěj „Blackbirds“ Šimáček also appeared in the qualification but neither got on well and both stood in their team member’s shadow. That night belonged entirely to Ondřej. First he completely destroyed a Ukrainian player HappyZerga who has got a top form right now and is estimated to be one of the best Zergs in Europe. Then he beat Austrian star monchi and then the best polish Terran DieStar in the third round.
His next opponent was a Korean star from StarTale – Curious. Needless to say who was the favorite of this match but Raitor didn’t tremble and continued his winning strike. The fourth round was extremely hard – he faced the elite player and the winner of American WCS S2 – Polt. This match caught a lot of attention and the commentator from BasetradeTV was clearly a big fan of our young player. Reitor fought hard and he almost had another win. At the end he lost the game with the score 1:2. Polt later became one of the qualifiers.
The complete final results are here.
Nevertheless Reitor showed amazing performance and for a moment walked in the light with the StarCraft elite. We keep our fingers crossed for him in the future so he maybe gets his own slot on DreamHack Winter. There will be three more qualifications and then of course the finale. The world’s best will appear there no doubt.
