Nobody can be successful all the time and the Czech Championship 2014 is a clear proof of that. We had players in three of four tournaments in Prague and not only our fans expected that eSuba players would get at least one gold medal. Unfortunately this year it wasn’t meant to be. It didn’t matter who was the supposed favourite because the finale is always about something else.
And this “something else” worked out for our rivals this time. They performed better and rightfully celebrated their victories. The first team was eXtatus, which defeated eSuba 3:1 in the Fridays League of Legends finals. Although our LoL players were every time close to winning, they were never able to complete it and their opponents used it to their advantage. eXtatus players managed to defeated eSuba twice (also on LanCraft) and you can say that they kind of deposed us from the domestic throne. Unfortunately some fans took it very badly and made our players feel every inch of their disappointment. Which is a pity because the team certainly didn’t deserve it.
Our players had a break on Saturday – Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was on the schedule. It was completely dominated by the nEophyte team which didn’t have many problems with the players from Cyborg Factory. StarCraft II was the first tournament on Sunday where Jakub „uniQFazer“ Ziman was defeated by Pavel „TomikuS“ Tomášek. And then Martin „Silhan“ Plachý wasn’t able to beat Michal „Styxon“ Hájek from eEriness at the Hearthstone finals.
It was clear after these two games that we won’t have a Champion’s title this year. It is quite unexpected after years of collecting trophies but it is necessary to look at the situation from a broader perspective. We don’t have any gold medals but our players collected many others and they count too! It didn’t work out this year but it will work out next year! And don’t forget: Play With Soul!
